The talk was very well attended and sparked lots of interest with audience questions ranging from societal mourning for bereaved whales and value of life in 'disposable' pets to the ethics of human euthanasia. This great outcome for the pilot project indicates that interspecies approaches to studying end of life care are welcomed by peers. The project has certainly lived up to the promise of creating new ways of thinking about end of life decision making.
